It's insane. It's anarchy. No, not anarchy; violence, cruelty, destruction without purpose. Anarchy implies an idea behind it all. This is just letting off steam.
The country's a fucked up place. The rich are remaining rich and the only people affected by the economic crisis are the poor, who are being asked to reach into their pockets over and over and live in fear of losing their jobs. It's getting worse and the government doesn't seem to notice. It's terrible.
It's also no excuse.
This isn't about expressing your anger or making a political point. It's about grabbing a new telly from Dixons, or a new mobile, or some new clothes. Oh, and if you can destroy some people's stuff in the process - perhaps burn someone's car - well, that's just a laugh isn't it?
Feeling quite afraid. My anxiety levels - always on edge anyway - mean I'm bouncing inside, paranoid, scared. I'd quite like to lock every door in the flat, every window, and close everything down.
Worse is this is another stick to beat Liverpool with. I was at Pride on Saturday and - according to estimates - 40,000 people took part. No rioting. No trouble. No national tv coverage.
This is a pointless post. But I had to write it somewhere.
